Bettys father Sammy Kemp was one of the thousands of Romany men who went off to fight in WW1.
Having spent time in a prison of war camp in Mesopotamia he returned to the UK in 1919 and served as an Air Raid Warden during WW2
There are no recorded photos of Bettys mum, Sarah as a younger woman. Her maiden name was Stanford
